Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight Jorge Masvidal, who only needed to knockout Darren Till at UFC London (watch it) to capture the No. 4 spot in the official rankings, is back home and enjoying his brief vacation from mixed martial arts (MMA).
While he’s been gone, fellow welterweight contenders, Ben Askren and Leon Edwards, have been squabbling over who gets the next shot at “Gamebred.” Too bad those silly little “sluts” didn’t realize that Masvidal lets his management team handle his dirty work.
“I got these two little sluts, one’s from England, one’s from some suburb calling me out,” Masvidal wrote on Instagram. “One’s not in the Top 10 and the other one that is hasn’t got a victory in the UFC, didn’t make the dude tap, didn’t put him to sleep, but you think you have a win in the UFC. Who are you fooling? You can fool the crowd but you can’t fool me, playboy. When I seen you in the hotel, what did you do? You ran away like a little bitch. I was ready to slap you up if you said anything disrespectful. What do I care to fight you or the other guy? I’ll let my management decide, you can keep hitting’ me up all you want though. You little sluts.”
The landscape of the welterweight division continues to change as the months roll on. Kamaru Usman recently toppled Tyron Woodley for the welterweight title and will move on to face Colby Covington later this year, while Robbie Lawler and “The Chosen One” run it back this June in Minneapolis.
In addition, Anthony Pettis cracked the 170-pound Top 10 by smashing Stephen Thompson (video). Then we have Rafael dos Anjos and Kevin Lee going to war in Rochester, while Santiago Ponzinibbio and the aforementioned Edwards await their next assignment.
Sounds like Masvidal vs. Askren is a matter of “when” as opposed to “if.”
