UFC Vegas 29 went down last night (Sat., June 19, 2021) inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada which saw Chan Sung Jung dominate Dan Ige for five rounds (see it again here) in the main event of the evening. In the co-main event, Serghei Spivak defeated Aleksei Oleinik after 15 minutes of Heavyweight action.

Winner: Chan Sung Jung

Who He Should Face Next: Max Holloway

Now is the perfect time to make this fight. Both have long been two of the best 145-pound fighters on the planet, with “Blessed” solidifying his spot as one of the best Featherweights ever during his title run. As for Jung, he has long been a fan-favorite and always delivers. Putting these two pieces of dynamite in there to light each other up is a sure-fire way to get an explosion of violence that will please all parties involved. Sure, “Blessed” was in line to face Yair Rodriguez, but now that he’s on the sidelines Holloway should hold out for the “Zombie” fight which could get him back to a title fight if he proves victorious.

Winner: Serghei Spivak

Who He Should Face Next: Sergei Pavlovich

After Spivak took out the No. 15 guy in Aleksei Oleinik, perhaps the Ukrainian big man can set his sights in the No. 14 guy, Pavlovich. Spivak has now won three straight while Pavlovich has won two in a row. If Spivak doesn’t get a spot in the Top 15 following this win, perhaps taking out Pavlovich will do the trick. It’s a fairly even matchup and there isn’t that much out there for them at the moment that makes sense.

Winner: Marlon Vera

Who He Should Face Next: Jimmie Rivera

Vera got back in the win column with an impressive win over Davey Grant, giving him some much-needed confidence after getting schooled by Jose Aldo. Up next for “Chito,” perhaps a showdown against Rivera is in order. “El Terror” is currently ranked No. 12 while Vera is sitting at No. 15. Rivera is coming off a tough loss to Pedro Munhoz and getting a win over Vera — though ranked below him — could help him get some steam back. And he needs it, too, because he 1-3 in his last four fights.

Winner: Matt Brown

Who He Should Face Next: Robbie Lawler

Brown saved his UFC career by scoring an impressive one-punch knockout win over Dhiego Lima, ending his two fight skid. “The Immortal” has been campaigning for his chance to avenge one of his losses against either Demian Maia, Donald Cerrone or Robbie Lawler. But seeing as how Maia is ranked No. 11, that fight isn’t going to be next. Cerrone has lost five of six while Lawler has lost four straight. That said, putting Lawler up against Brown seems to be the fight that would be most competitive.

Winner: Bruno Silva

Who He Should Face Next: Jordan Wright

Silva made a statement in his UFC debut by scoring an impressive first round knockout win over Wellington Turman. Winner of five in a row, Silva has won 15 of 16 bouts so he is no spring chicken and can start ramping up the competition level sooner, rather than later. While there is no need to rush him, a bout against Wright sound appropriate. Wright is 2-1 so far in his UFC career, with his lone loss coming at the hands of Joaquin Buckley.

Winner: Seung Woo Choi

Who He Should Face Next: Alex Caceres

Choi picked up his third straight win with a first round win over Julian Erosa, giving him a much-needed push to be able to break into the Top 15. To get there, how about getting a win over the No. 15 ranked guy in the division? Caceres has also been pretty hot as of late, too, winning four in a row including his last win against Kevin Croom. While it may take a bit of convincing for Caceres to take a fight against someone who is unranked, a bout — and especially a win — over Choi would definitely be worth this while.
