Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov have been suspended 10 days for their respective roles in the UFC 229 post-fight melee (watch it), which took place last Saturday night (Oct. 6, 2018) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

McGregor was seen throwing a punch that led to his attack from hot-headed members of the Nurmagomedov camp, while “The Eagle” went and jumped off the cage in pursuit of SBG Ireland coach and Bellator MMA fighter Dillon Danis.

“The Nevada Athletic Commission will deliver 10-day suspensions to Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor in short order as it begins in earnest its review of Khabib’s post-fight leap into the crowd Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena,” veteran reporter Lance Pugmire tweeted.

The suspension doesn’t mean much at this point, since neither combatant will be competing this week, and both fighters could be facing additional sanctions after the commission concludes its investigation into the incident.

“The commission will continue to hold Nurmagomedov’s full $2 million guaranteed purse,” Pugmire said. “At least until the commission meets to discuss the situation later this month at a date not yet finalized.”

Nurmagomedov submitted McGregor in the fourth round of their championship affair (highlights) and could face off at a later date, assuming the promotion uses the publicity surrounding the UFC 229 debacle to hype up a potential rematch.

Then again, that’s just my “stupid opinion.”
