Conor McGregor mocked Tony Ferguson’s weight cut for his cancelled UFC 249 fight, then deleted his tweets.
Tony Ferguson making weight for his cancelled fight at UFC 249 didn’t go unnoticed by Conor McGregor, who issued a graphic response.
Ferguson (25-3) was scheduled to meet current UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov (28-0) in the main event of UFC 249, but the event was cancelled despite the UFC finding a location for the card after top ESPN/Disney asked Dana White to “stand down.”
McGregor has been very active since the outbreak of the coronavirus, trying to assist his country Ireland in overcoming the pandemic by engaging with the country’s officials and donating PPE supplies. Regardless, McGregor still took the time to reply to Ferguson and then delete his tweets.
“Congrats on an excellent victory Tony Ferguson,” McGregor wrote. “Now let’s have the other guy [Khabib] on the scale please.”
After initially congratulating Ferguson for hitting the 155-pound mark on Friday, McGregor then promised to “beat him to the absolute nucleus pulposus,” which is essentially the inner core of the vertebrae.
“Hahahajaj. You will be bet to the absolute nucleus pulposus when I get you, kid.” McGregor wrote but later deleted.
McGregor (22-4) returned to the octagon after over a year away from the sport at the beginning of 2020, knocking out Donald Cerrone in just 40-seconds at UFC 246. The “Notorious” lost to Nurmagomedov by fourth-round submission in his fight before his recent win.
