Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather Jr. may never meet inside of the boxing ring again, but the two combat stars still find themselves throwing punches on social media.
While “Money” has been on McGregor’s case since defeating the former UFC champion in a massive boxing match back in 2017, “Notorious” has been lobbying for a rematch with the undefeated pugilist to prove he’s the better fighter. McGregor was even trying to land a superfight with boxing legend Manny Pacquiao later this year, but a recent TKO loss to Dustin Poirier back in January has put the Irishman’s plans on hold.
Mayweather, who turns 44 later this month, has been celebrating his upcoming birthday all week with a crazy party in Florida alongside a ton of A-List celebrities. While McGregor is popular enough and rich enough to get in the door, the former UFC champion wasn’t invited.
Instead, McGregor took to social media on Friday to wish Mayweather a happy birthday. “Notorious” also threw some shade at “Money” for not making Forbes’ most recent list of highest paid athletes in the world. It’s a list Mayweather topped nearly every year during his professional boxing career. McGregor is currently No. 16.
“Happy birthday Floyd! We miss you on the Forbes.”
Regardless of Mayweather not being on the Forbes list the former world champion is still richer than rich. He’s even richer than McGregor, who is the most popular and lucrative star in the history of MMA. Mayweather also has ultimate bragging rights with his TKO win over “Notorious” from 2017.
In any case, Mayweather has a potential clash with YouTube star Logan Paul lined up for later this year. If he’s light on cash that circus fight will surely fatten his wallet.
