In what’s becoming more commonplace these days, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was forced to make some last-minute changes to its upcoming UFC Fight Night 139 mixed martial arts (MMA) fight card.

The main card bout pitting Ray Borg opposite Joseph Benavidez in flyweight action has been scratched after “The Tazmexican Devil” was yanked for “medical issues,” according to the very helpful explanation on UFC.com.

With less than two days before weigh ins, there was no way to get a potential replacement through medicals and on weight in time for Benavidez, who will return to the sidelines to await his next assignment.

As for Borg, this is clearly another disappointment in a year filled with personal heartache, lawsuits, and ill-timed injuries. Unfortunately, we don’t yet know what the problem was or how long it’s expected to keep the former division title contender out of action.

Stay tuned.
