With two possible middleweight contenders falling to the wayside, both Alan Belcher and Tim Boetsch lost their respective bouts at Saturday’s UFC 155 event, the road appears clear for Michael ‘The Count’ Bisping (23-4) to secure a definite title shot.

All Bisping has to do is get past Vitor Belfort at UFC on FX 7 next month according to UFC president Dana White.

White confirmed the news at last nights UFC 155 post-fight press conference.

“If Bisping wins that fight, he’ll get the next shot.”

‘The Count’ and ‘The Phenom’ are set to tangle in Brazil on January 19, 2013 in the main event of UFC on FX: Belfort vs. Bisping. The Ibirapuera Arena hosts the television card which takes place in São Paulo, Brazil.

Bisping is 5-1 in his last six matches but is 1-1 in his last two. He recently won a unanimous decision over Brian Stann last September at UFC 152 in Toronto, while losing a No. 1 contender match to Chael Sonnen at UFC on FOX 2 almost one year ago.
