A middleweight bout between Australian fighter Kyle ‘KO’ Noke (19-5-1) and Jared ‘The Messenger’ Hamman (13-4) appears to be in the works for the upcoming UFC on FX 2 event this coming March.
Hamman announced the bout on his personal site (www.kylenoke.com), while UFC officials have yet to confirm the matchup.
UFC on FX: Alves vs. Kampmann (aka UFC on FX 2) is expected to take place on March 3, 2012 at the Allphones Arena (formerly Acer Arena) in Sydney, Australia. The even is headlined by a welterweight fight between Thiago Alves and Martin Kampmann.
Noke returns to his homeland on a loss having had a five fight win streak stopped last August by Ed Herman. The two squared off in Milwaukee as part of the UFC on Versus 5 card, Herman would score a first round submission victory ending the fight at 4:15. Noke earned his last win in Australia, as well as a “Submission of the Night” bonus, for stopping Chris Camozzi at UFC 127 via first round submission. So far ‘KO’ is 3-1 in the UFC which also includes wins over Rob Kimmons and Josh Bryant.
Hamman has traded wins for losses in his last six matches which includes five in the Octagon. Despite dropping to middleweight in 2011, he is just 1-1 in the Octagon at 185-lbs losing to Constantinos Philippou at UFC 140 last month, and stopping C.B. Dollaway via TKO at the UFC on Versus 5 show. ‘The Messenger’ fought as a light heavyweight in his three other UFC appearances, losing to Kyle Kingsbury at UFN 22, defeating Rodney Wallace at UFC 111, and losing to Alexander Gustafsson via KO at UFC 105 in just 41-seconds.
