Undefeated middleweight Chris Weidman (9-0) has his next fight and it won’t be for the UFC 185-lbs title.

On Friday the Ultimate Fighting Championship announced a bout between the wrestler and ‘The Barbarian’ Tim Boetsch (16-4) for this December’s UFC 155 event.

Top-five ranked middleweights Tim “The Barbarian” Boetsch and Chris “The All-American: Weidman have verbally agreed to fight at UFC 155 December 29th in Las Vegas.

“I think I’m the number-one contender in the division but with Anderson not fighting for the rest of 2012, I want to stay busy and keep getting better,” said Weidman. “I think I’m the best middleweight in the world and I’m going to prove it against another top contender.”

UFC 155 is expected to take place on December 29, 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada and will be headlined by a heavyweight title rematch between champion Junior dos Santos versus former title holder Cain Velasquez.

Weidman is a perfect 9-0 with five victories taking place in the Octagon. His last win went down in July in the main event of UFC on FUEL TV 4, with a spectacular knockout finish of top middleweight Mark Munoz. Weidman has also earned wins over Demain Maia, Tom Lawlor, Jesse Bongfeldt and Alessio Sakara since debuting in the Octagon in March 2011.

Boetsch has won four straight since dropping down to 185-lbs from light heavyweight. ‘The Barbarian’ earned a split decision against former Bellator champ Hector Lombard last July at UFC 149. Boetsch’s also earned victories against Yushin Okami, Nick Ring and Kendall Grove fighting at middleweight. He is 8-1 in his last nine matches.
