Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Maycee Barber has made it really clear that she wants to fight Paige VanZant, but “12 Gauge” just isn’t interested. It’s something of an odd situation: VanZant wants to deny Barber an opponent of her profile due to Barber’s “disrespectful” tactics. Meanwhile, Barber is actually ranked ahead of “PVZ” and probably should be calling out a higher-ranked foe anyway, yet “The Future” seems stuck on VanZant.

As a result of Barber’s latest callout, VanZant took to Instagram to request a fight with literally any other women at 115- or 125-pounds. Now, Barber has fired back:

Transcription via MMAJunkie:

“All right so I’m out here at the (UFC) PI getting my recovery in, and this thing, my little phone here just keeps blowing up about Paige VanZant trying to get a fight. She keeps going on and on about this respect, and this trying to get a girl from her girl power union to come out and fight her in the cage, and listen Paige, I’m not looking to go out there and fight you out of respect. I’m looking to go out there and sign a contract with another girl and have her actually show up, and I saw your thing on TMZ about begging Dana for a fight and listen, Dana White, TMZ, Paige VanZant, I’m right here. I’ve been waiting. So either sign the contract and show up, otherwise give me a contract with someone with the last name VanZant.”

It would probably be best if everyone just moved on, yet it doesn’t seem likely. Is anyone actually that intrigued by this one-sided grudge match?

Holly Holm is seriously strong.

Tatiana Suarez proving that her strength is no joke either:

Getting punched in the face while jumping through the air is rarely a good combination.

It’s rare that a spinning back fist works so well when the user moves forward, it’s generally best as a counter!

Quite the visual.

Midnight Music: What a day! New albums released by Swans, Ariel Pink, Desert Sessions (Queens of the Stone Age sorta), and Kanye West all at once. That’s like half of the modern artists I really love. I am overwhelmed.

Sleep well Maniacs! More martial arts madness is always on the way.
