Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

No. 2-ranked Bantamweight contender, Aljamain Sterling, underwent surgery a couple weeks ago to repair a Scapholunate ligament tear in his wrist, derailing a potential title eliminator opposite Frankie Edgar. Now a bit more healed up, “Funkmaster” took to Instagram to show off his metal-infused limb.

All in all, it’s not terrible timing for Sterling considering Bantamweight kingpin Henry Cejudo is also on the mend. Whenever Sterling does return to the cage, he’ll remain a top-ranked Bantamweight, likely one more victory away from a title shot.

Who would you like to see him fight?

Insomnia

Some real knowledge and a cool highlight to go with it:

Mike Perry is back sparring again, and it didn’t take anywhere near six months.

Teaching the future is no easy task.

A fun side of martial arts is how certain athletes have mastered a basic technique to the point that it becomes a signature. One such example:

Ricardo Ramos and DWTNCS vet Alex Munoz practicing their knife fighting skills:

DESERVED!

Slips, rips, and KO clips

Martinez slipped past his opponent after the flubbed kick and took full advantage of that angle.

D’arce chokes are one of the best ways to keep an opponent from standing back up.

Fatality.

Zinedine Zidane would be proud.

Midnight Music: Detroit’s Danny Brown is on the shortlist of my favorite rappers working right now. His dark, desperate 2011 album XXX is among my favorite hip-hop albums ever, and 2016’s highly experimental Atrocity Exhibition is excellent as well. His new album uknowhatimsayin¿ is executively produced by the legendary Q-Tip, has plenty of Brown’s hilarious and sharp wordplay, and features some strong guest performances.

Sleep well Maniacs! More martial arts madness is always on the way.
