Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Things turned ugly Thursday night (Dec. 14, 2023) during the UFC 296 pre-fight press conference (watch HERE) in Las Vegas, Nevada, when Colby Covington made a remark about Leon Edwards’ deceased father and all-out chaos nearly erupted.

Covington, who was dressed like George Washington as if he was fending off a British invasion, left absolutely nothing to the imagination. The controversial welterweight contender launched verbal attacks on almost everyone on stage. He was in prime form and speaking with little regard to what was actually coming out of his mouth.

During an argument with Edwards, Covington quickly turned things dark and began to talk about bringing the UFC welterweight champion to the “seventh level of hell.” Covington took things one step further and decided to bring up Edwards’ late father, who was murdered in a London nightclub when “Rocky” was just 13.

“On Saturday night, I’m going to bring you to a place you never want to be,” screamed Covington. “I’m going to bring you to the seventh level of hell. We’ll say what’s up to your dad while we’re there.”

It was a horrible remark to make even for a brash showman like Covington. Of course, Edwards did not take kindly to the comment and decided to hurl a water bottle across the stage. It nearly hit Covington in the head. The two welterweights jumped out of their seats ready to go to war, but security swiftly intervened.
