Heather officially pronounced this the “Captain Caveman” lift!! One arm 320lb Zercher rack squat with barbell on fire and throwing homemade spiked caveman Club into target. Shown also is the warmup which was an easy regular 500lb zercher rack squat. And some good lifts but throw fails and just a regular club throw….because last week somebody joked on some other video that “Bud would do that while doing a 300lb one arm zercher lift on fire and throwing an axe he homemade”. So I just did it lol. Plus I haven’t lit a bar on fire in a while and the idea of fighting/throwing while one hand is lifting or occupied and the general awesomeness of zercher lifts. Ido Portal, Conor McGregor’s erstwhile movement coach, on his new sleeping style.

A very common question i get is regarding sleep – mats, pillows, darkness, temp, etc… I’ve played around over the years with many parameters: total darkness, ice chamber cold room as per the ‘cave theory’, sleeping in hammocks for months on end during my long trips to Brazil, the military taught me the art of sleeping anywhere, any position and anytime (including during rucking, funny enough) and even a stint of 6 months in which I was sleeping on the floor with nothing but shorts on. (I took 3 weeks to sleep on a thin yoga mat with pillow and blanket, another 3 weeks to lose the pillow and another 3 to get used to no blanket. The blanket was the hardest thing actually..) Eventually, after all kind of romantic ideas faded away I came back to the comfort of… rail sleeping. It’s my preferred method these days, have been for years now. I simply locate a rail, hook a foot and lay back. It did wonders to my spine, softened my hardened body via myofascial release and taught me balance to a deeper level than I ever thought possible.
