Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

The Conor McGregor show continues! After over a year on the sidelines, the sport’s biggest star will return in just about a week at UFC 246. Until then, however, expect McGregor news to continue dominating the airwaves.

Earlier today, EssentiallySports reported on McGregor’s salary for next Saturday, and it’s significant. The Irishman is set to earn $5,000,000 for his main event return, and that figure does not include other sources of revenue like the Reebok sponsorship, pay-per-view (PPV) points, or potential performance bonuses. Previously, the highest recorded official purse for a UFC fighter was McGregor’s showdown with UFC Lightweight kingpin Khabib Nurmagomedov. In his losing effort to “The Eagle,” McGregor still banked $3,000,000.

Not a bad raise!

In addition, it was revealed that Donald Cerrone will also be paid seven figures, though his paycheck is to be $2,000,000. That may be quite a bit less than McGregor, but it’s still a very significant increase from his usual fight purse and well-above what most UFC fighters will ever hope to make in a single fight.
