Midnight Mania! Watch Volkan Oezdemir spar Luke Rockhold

Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

MMA has a big gym culture that sees a lot of top fighters migrate to centralized super-camps to train with other top-flight mixed martial artists.

One such super-camp is Combat Club, a relatively new gym headed by Henri Hooft in central Florida. Hooft, a top level kickboxer, is one of the best-regarded striking coaches in the game.

Watch Volkan Oezdemir, who Cormier has decided is the next contender, spar Luke Rockhold and Matt Mitrione, plus footage of Gilbert Burns, Michael Johnson, and several other high-level fighters. Luke Rockhold looks huge next to “No Time”, who is a weight class above the AKA contender. Rockhold also spars Cormier at his home gym, American Kickboxing Academy, showing just how small and connected the world of MMA is at the highest levels.

Jimmie Rivera’s wife came at Aljamain Sterling on the Twitter dot com and they had what can most aptly be described as an exchange. It got real personal real quick.

It started out with Aljo explaining why he turned down a fight with Rivera in the past. Samantha Rivera, Jimmie’s spouse, jumped in to reply.

And since then you’ve won 2 and lost 2 in the @ufc … but you’re worthy

— Samantha Rivera (@Simslizzard) September 28, 2017

She was clear to point out her status as Rivera’s spouse.

I’m his fucking wife bitch

— Samantha Rivera (@Simslizzard) September 29, 2017

“She said it first”

Ouch

— Samantha Rivera (@Simslizzard) September 29, 2017

I’m sorry you don’t have a supportive spouse try @eHarmony

— Samantha Rivera (@Simslizzard) September 29, 2017

Aljamain Sterling responded that he has had the same girl for almost seven years, and suggested Mrs. Rivera fight his sisters.

6 years lol going on 7. Like I said this is a mans fight. Unless you wanna lace up against my sisters or something? https://t.co/o59jlv7gDo

— Aljamain Sterling (@FunkMaster_UFC) September 29, 2017

He ended by going full circle back at Jimmie Rivera.

Lol your girl handling your fights too I see. I won’t trash her as much as savage Aljo wants to. But this proves my point. You pussy https://t.co/2ZHjjk8pi0

— Aljamain Sterling (@FunkMaster_UFC) September 29, 2017

I’m not sure why Cyborg tweeted out the number “143”, but Chase Sherman was ready with another random number.

84

Cub Swanson, contrary to recent reports, isn’t fighting Ortega… or at least, nothing has been signed yet.

Spoke to @CubSwanson. Despite reports of a fight w/Brian Ortega, he said UFC hasn’t offered date or opponent. He’s open to December though.

— Brett Okamoto (@bokamotoESPN) September 28, 2017

Here was the original rumor, and let me be clear: this fight would rock.

Jessica Eye puts Ariel’s calls for a DC-Miocic fight down. Consider this, though: the size difference between Cormier and Miocic is roughly the same as between Miocic and Ngannou

And you thought American politics were dysfunctional…

There is so much going on in this photo from the Ugandan parliament. But above all, look at that stance pic.twitter.com/bB2l4a8iI8

Here is a video of the encounter, which saw one man dragged out bodily by other suited men. Chaos reigned.

MMA Mania started this when Ferguson quoted this story.

You’re*** BTW

Pretty ironic that Ferguson is correcting grammar, considering:
