UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate already knows that she will be fighting Amanda Nunes at UFC 200 but Tate is looking past that fight and is looking at a fight that most fans thought the UFC would book for the biggest fight card of 2016. That would be a trilogy fight with Ronda Rousey.

Rousey is expected to return later this year, and it appears that the UFC is waiting to have Rousey fight in November at the first UFC event at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Tate agrees with the UFC’s thinking and wants to fight her arch rival at the event.

“I think everything happens for a reason. I told everybody I was gonna beat Holly, and I did,” Tate said during a press conference in New York on Wednesday. “I’m meant to be here. I’m gonna beat Amanda on [July 9]. Hopefully after that, we’ll see Ronda in Madison Square Garden. That would be great.”

Ironically, Rousey has already confirmed that she would like to fight on that card because it is going to be historical.

“I want a tie to a historical place like this, and I want to be remembered in a positive way. I’m from Los Angeles, where if something is 50 years old, they tear it down and build a new one. It’s not for my own vanity. It’s for a place in history. I don’t have a single picture of myself fighting in my house. I don’t have my belts, they’re hidden. I don’t like putting stuff out there, but I like fighting for a place in history.”

Rousey has beaten Tate twice. Rousey beat Tate in March of 2012 by first-round armbar then in December of 2013 at UFC 168; Rousey submitted Tate with an armbar in the third round.

Keep in mind that Nunes is someone to take serious so Tate might want to keep her eye on one fight at a time and focus on Nunes before focusing on Rousey.
