It’s been over a year since former WEC featherweight champion Mike Brown (24-6) lost his title. Since then he’s put together a 2-1 record and is hoping that a good effort against his next opponent will put him close to a title fight.

Brown is set to face Diego Nunes at this Saturday’s UFC 125 event in Las Vegas. It will be his second appearance under the UFC banner having fought as a lightweight back in April of 2004 at UFC 47. He wound up getting submitted by Genki Sudo at the event and hopes his return will be very different.

Brown talked to the Canadian Press recently about his opponent and his hopes for another title run.

“He poses some problems, but I’m confident I’m going to get him. . . . I think it’s perfect, this is what I need. He’s a guy who’s ranked top 10 in the world by most everybody. These are the type of fights to get that title shot and that’s what I want.”

In the interview Brown also talked about the differences between the fighter that stepped into the octagon in 2004 and the one that steps into the octagon this Saturday. Be sure to check out the full interview at TSN.ca.
