A middleweight bout has been added the Ultimate Fighting Championships third FOX event, as Mike ‘The Master Of Disaster’ Massenzio (13-6) and Karlos ‘The Terminator’ Vemola (8-2) have agreed to meet at the New Jersey show.
Promotion officials added the bout to today’s earlier announcement which added a heavyweight clash between Pat ‘HD’ Barry and Lavar ‘Big’ Johnson.
Karlos Vemola has verbally agreed to drop down to middleweight to face New Jersey’s own Mike “The Master of Disaster” Massenzio.
UFC on FOX: Diaz vs. Miller (aka UFC on FOX 3) is expected to take place on May 5, 2012 at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The show will be headlined by a five-round non-title bout between lightweights Nate Diaz and Jim Miller.
Massenzio was submitted in his last fight, losing to Rousimar Palhares at UFC 142 last month in Brazil. The loss puts ‘The Master Of Disaster’ at 1-2 in the Octagon in his most recent matches. He fought Steve Cantwell at UFC 136 in October, earning a unanimous decision in a middleweight bout. And lost a decision to Krzysztof Soszynski at UFC 131 in a light heavyweight match.
Vemola holds the same 1-2 record and drops to his third weight class in the UFC versus Massenzio. The Croatian fighter debuted as a heavyweight, losing to Jon Madsen at UFC 116, then stopped Seth Petruzelli via TKO at UFC 122 at light heavyweight, and lost a decision to Ronny Markes at UFC on Versus 5 in the 205-lbs division.
