Mike Richman injured, Eduardo Dantas fight scrapped from Bellator 135

Former champion Eduardo Dantas will have to wait a little longer to make his return to the Bellator cage.

Mike Richman, who was scheduled to meet the Brazilian fighter at the co-main event of Bellator 135 in Thackerville on March 23, has sustained an undisclosed injury and was forced out of the bout. With “The Marine’s” injury, Dantas was also removed from the card.

Richman announced the injury on his Twitter on Sunday, revealing that his bout with Dantas would be moved to Bellator 137 on May 15, but “Dudu” told MMAFighting.com that his next step is not set yet.

Bellator officials confirmed the news to MMAFighting.com, revealing that Dantas-Richman will likely be moved to May 15 or June 20.

Richman (18-5) scored back-to-back first-round stoppages over Ed West and Nam Phan in his last fights, while Dantas (16-4) looks to get back on track after suffering his first loss under the Bellator banner in October, losing his title to Joe Warren.

Bellator 135 takes place at the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Okla., and features Joe Warren vs. Marcos Galvao title fight in the main event. The main card airs live on Spike TV and also features L.C. Davis vs. Hideo Tokoro, Francis Carmont vs. Guilherme Viana, and Dakota Cochrane vs.  Ryan Couture.
