medicalsuspensions8dThe Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has saw fit to suspend a total of five fighters from last Saturday’s UFC: Fight for the Troops 2 event, which took place at Fort Hood near Killeen, Texas.

Topping the list of suspensions were Matt Mitrione and Willamy Freire who both received indefinite sentences for injuries suffered in their bouts.

Mitrione injured his left hand during his first-round TKO win over Tim Hague in the co-main event. He can be cleared to return if he receives clearance from a doctor first. The win was Mitrione’s fourth as a professional fighter and fourth as a UFC fighter.

Freire received his indefinite suspension for damage to his right hand and cheek. He lost a unanimous decision to Waylon Lowe in his UFC debut as part of the last prelim bout of the evening. He can have the suspension lifted once he is cleared by the proper specialist for each of his injuries.
