Marcus Aurelio headed into this bout with Jose Cornejo holding a 2-2 record. Aurelio came out 3-2 and with one superb highlight reel knockout that will drop the jaws of many MMA fans.
Just 40 seconds into the welterweight clash, Aurelio comes out of nowhere and catches Cornejo with a flying switchkick that absolutely stuns Cornejo and drops him to the mat faster then you can say “switchkick.”
Cornejo immediately goes into protection mode even though the ref comes in and stops the fight ending one of the most awesome kicks thrown.
Aurelio’s record consists of two wins by form of knockout and the other by submission. All of Aurelio’s fights—win or loss—have ended by some form of stoppage.
Cornejo on the other hand is 0-3 in his MMA career including this loss to Aurelio. Much like Aurelio though, all three losses have come in the form of stoppage (two by knockout and one by submission).
Along with dropping the jaws of MMA fans, Aurelio proves that capoeira is still a very effective form of martial arts at Battlefield Fight League 10.
