It has been a tough year for all things concerning the Emelianenko brothers, and a recent loss suffered by Aleksander gives them a winless year in 2011.
In a bout with Magomed Malikov over the weekend, the 30-year-old suffered a 23-second knockout loss in Astrakhan, Russia.
Malikov didn’t waste any time in unloading his right hand when the opportunity presented itself. After Emelianenko got dropped, Malikov capitalized with a few follow-up shots before the referee stopped the fight.
It was Emelianenko’s second loss in a row and only his first time fighting since December 2010.
His brother, Fedor, will headline an upcoming M-1 Global card on Nov. 20 opposite Jeff Monson. “The Last Emperor” has gone 0-3 in his past three bouts with losses to Fabricio Werdum, Dan Henderson and Antonio Silva.
