MMA SQUARED: Jorge Masvidal baptizes Ben Askren

Surrounded by GOATs, on one of the best cards of 2019, Jorge Masvidal found a way to outshine them all. “I just baptized two individuals back-to-back, so I think the belt is the only thing that’s left for me.” -Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal

For five seconds on Saturday night, the Octagon became the River Jordan, and when Ben Askren dipped his head down into its cool waters the flying knee of Jorge Masvidal washed away all the trash that once flowed from his mouth and he was reborn.

On a side note, this has been one heck of a week for Michael Bisping. He gets inducted into the hall of fame, his antagonist Luke Rockhold gets flatlined by Jan Blachowicz, and Jorge Masvidal’s flying knee knockout of Ben Askren may have usurped Bisping’s KO loss to Dan Henderson as the #1 knockout in UFC history.

Take care of yourself and I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
