Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) strawweight champion, Rose Namajunas, appears to have exorcised her demons long enough to return to mixed martial arts (MMA) when she battles top 115-pound contender, Jessica Andrade, at the upcoming UFC 237 pay-per-view (PPV) event this May in Brazil.
And she’ll do it as the betting underdog.
Namajunas (8-3) opened at +100 against -120 for Andrade (19-6). That’s a pretty close line and apparently tasty enough for some bettors to already lay down their coin. In the few days that passed since their fight announcement, Namajunas shot up to as high as +145, while Andrade sank to -175, according to Best Fight Odds.
The Brazilian is getting love from the bookies because of her ferocious offense inside the cage, while remaining seemingly unfazed by incoming fire. While she came up short to Joanna Jedrzejczyk in her strawweight title fight, “Bate Estaca” was in her face and swinging for the fences for all five rounds.
Will one of those bombs detonate on the dome of the current champ?
