You can blame the Irish whiskey he was sipping but Conor McGregor didn’t need it to open up about fellow featherweight contender Ricardo Lamas.
Enjoying a drink at the UFC Fight Night: Boston post-fight presser, McGregor expressed his disapproval for a satirical video Lamas released during fight week.
Playing a character called ‘Conrad McGillicutty,’ Lamas managed to mock everything from the Irishman’s mantras to his suits and fighting style in under seven minutes.
“People seem to think it’s all talk,” McGregor explained. “You have rookies, p***ies making these little videos. Ricardo Lamas’ video. Holy Jesus. Think of the amount of effort he went to make that stupid video.
“I can’t even get over that video,” McGregor continued. “It’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen in my life. I look down into the crowd and I see 40 chins. I climbed up those 40 chins and it was Ricardo Lamas so I gave him the finger, as well. I saw him in the hotel with a big box of pizza. He’s a big fat mess making stupid videos. Get in the gym! Get in the gym and perform impressive. Climb up that ladder. You fought like a p***y when you fought Jose [Aldo] [at UFC 169]. So he’s a p***y.”
McGregor also made time for featherweight champion Jose Aldo, his next opponent. Aldo has oft referred to McGregor as the joker to his king and was photographed holding a poster of the Irishman mocked up in the traditional garb.

“Then I’m looking out into the crowd and I see Jose with my face on a joker poster or something like that. I don’t know what that was about. They all think it’s fun and games. I’m not playing here. The only thing that stopped me from smacking Jose and stiffening him up in the crowd was the money. Because I love the money.”

The Ultimate Fighter : How a reality show changed an entire sport.
January 17th marks the ten year anniversary of The Ultimate Fighter. Since the show’s debut the UFC has expanded from a dark horse sport to a worldwide phenomenon. It hasn’t always been cookies and milk though for the MMA juggernaut. Fourteen years ago the UFC was at death’s door step. Being regarded as nothing more than cock fighting while being banned from pay per view displayed a very dark future for the modern day gladiators. Then Dr. Zuffa showed up and put its dying patient on life support. Over the next four years they would institute five minute rounds and weight classes giving it more of a sport like feel. Working with athletic commissions would help the sport, slowly but surely get legalized across the United States. Taking marquee names like Ken Shamrock and Tito Ortiz and turning them into household names helped their mainstream appeal.
