After being submitted by Nate Diaz in a welterweight bout at UFC 196 on March 5th in Las Vegas, featherweight champion Conor McGregor was reportedly ‘obsessed’ with getting his revenge in a rematch with Diaz. Ultimately, the two met for a second time at last weekend’s UFC 202, and McGregor avenged his loss, scoring a majority decision over the Stockton native in a five round slugfest.

In the aftermath of the rematch, Diaz, who felt as if he had won the bout, said that he’s unwilling to fight again until he’s granted his trilogy bout with the “Notorious” one. In fact, the No. 5-ranked lightweight recently took a page out of McGregor’s book, and told MMAFighting.com that he’s ‘obsessed’ and waiting for UFC President Dana White to visit him in Stockton:

“I’m still waiting for Dana [White] and Lorenzo [Fertitta] to show up to my house to see how obsessed I am,” Diaz said.

Diaz may just be taking a jab at his bitter rival with this comment, but it’s also likely that he’s being serious as there are few other fights that would reward him with the financial earnings that a third bout with McGregor would. Unfortunately for Diaz, however, it doesn’t appear as if he’ll be granted his wish right away, as White said in the aftermath of UFC 202 that he was ‘moving on’ from the McGregor-Diaz rivalry.

Instead, the Irishman will likely drop back down to 145-pounds to defend his title, or possibly face off with lightweight king Eddie Alvarez. In that case, where should Diaz look to go next?
