Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweights Roy Nelson and Matt Mitrione came together under the Bellator MMA banner late last month to participate in the promotion’s heavyweight grand prix.

Mitrione won a close unanimous decision to avenge his 2012 loss to Nelson and moves forward to face the winner of Ryan Bader vs. Muhammed Lawal this summer. However, “Meathead” had some parting words for the “cheating dirtbag” (read them here) and they did not go unnoticed by his former foe.

Who quickly made things personal.

“Matt’s a guy that’s always the pot calling the kettle black,” Nelson told MMAjunkie.com. “I think he’s still upset because he’s cheating on his wife and stuff. That’s all I heard that whole week – was him cheating on his wife. So I think he has a lot of guilt, and he’s got to take his rage out somewhere. But there’s no cheating on my end. I think he’s just upset because in his heart he didn’t really feel like he won. He wasn’t the best fighter that night.”

That got unnecessarily ugly.

Nelson (23-15) is already booked for his next fight, which just so happens to be yet another UFC rematch. This time, “Big Country” will collide with former PRIDE FC standout Mirko Filipovic in London (details), who will no doubt be looking to avenge his Oct. 2011 loss to the portly power puncher.

And it appears Nelson is picking up with Filipovic right where he left off with “Meathead.”
