The Ultimate Fighting Championship is about to move to a new home for television broadcasts with the recently announced FOX Sports 1 channel under the FOX Sports Media Group (FSMG) which is set to launch on August 17, 2013.
Fox officials announced the new lineup on Tuesday, according to Co-Presidents and COOs Randy Freer and Eric Shanks “Our ‘secret,’ admittedly a very poorly kept one, is now revealed,” said Shanks. “Fans are ready for an alternative to the establishment, and our goal for FS1 is to provide the best in-game experience possible, complemented by informative news, entertaining studio shows and provocative original programming.”
The first UFC on FSN 1 event will air on August 17 with a second show planned in December. Into 2014 FOX will air 14 live fight-night events every second Wednesday.
Following FSN 1′s launch and continuing throughout 2014, Wednesday nights will be a regular destination for UFC programming, including 14 live fight-night events also airing in primetime.
FX will no longer carry UFC programing as it is dropping sports programming altogether. Fuel TV will be re-named FOX Sports 2.
