Jake Paul, the Internet sensation-turned professional boxer, rips UFC fighter Jorge Masvidal for picking Tyron Woodley.

Jake Paul is encouraging Jorge Masvidal to test his luck in the boxing ring.

Paul (3-0, boxing) will fight former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight kingpin, Tyron Woodley (19-7-1, MMA), in the headlining bout of Showtime Boxing’s pay-per-view event (PPV) on Aug. 29, 2021 (also streaming on FITE) inside Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio. “Gamebred” predicted (see it here) that his American Top Team (ATT) teammate, Woodley, will separate Paul from consciousness.

“The Problem Child” has a different perspective.

“He’s going to eat those words very quickly,” Paul told MMAMania.com and SB Nation’s Combat Culture. “This is coming from a guy who just got knocked out cold in an embarrassing way.”

Masvidal previously told The MMA Hour’s Ariel Helwani, “If Jake wins, f—king wild, my hat’s off to him, I was wrong, I don’t know s—t about fighting. But, chances are, Woodley’s going to knock him the f—k out.”

“So yeah, maybe he doesn’t know that much about fighting,” Paul responds in this new interview. “He’s been in this game for a long time. he’s got a lot of fights. he’s got a lot of experience. I respect him. I think Jorge has done a lot for this sport. I think he’s a good guy, but, unfortunately, my friend it’s a new era. No matter how much experience you have, it’s about the quality of the experience. Tyron and Jorge have the same manager, so of course, he’s going to say this. Of course, he’s going to side with his boy. But you know, maybe Jorge’s next, to be honest. After I take out this guy, he can step right up. I’m basically just showing these UFC champions and these amazing UFC strikers can’t really go at it and they can’t compete at my level, at least.”

Woodley is a former five-time UFC champion, but Paul has also been called out by a former UFC Light Heavyweight champion … Rashad Evans.

“I don’t even know if I’m familiar with him. Was he a welterweight?” Paul asks. “He’s old, no? I don’t know. I don’t see it happening. It has to make sense on so many levels for me to fight somebody. I want to increase the level of my competition after each fight. If I take out this five-time UFC champion, where do I go from there?”

One potential boxing match that is rich with story is a bout between Paul and fellow YouTuber, KSI. The English Internet sensation took a split decision against Jake’s older brother, Logan Paul, in Nov. 2019 (watch highlights). Jake also boasts an amateur technical knockout over KSI’s younger brother Deji Olatunji.

Paul is still open to fighting KSI; however, he says the gap between them is growing by the day.

“If we would have done it then, I think it would have been a lot better of a fight. He would have come in with those overhand rights and such. I might not have been as used to that. With that said, I still would have knocked him out then. For sure,” Paul says. “My brother is a little gun shy, he was afraid of those shots. I’m stepping right into him. I’m coming through with that right hand that has knocked out everyone so far. It knocked out KSI’s best friend. So I would have knocked him out then, it probably would have just taken a couple of rounds. If we fight now, it’s a one-round fight. A half-round fight. No chance of him getting out of the first round.”
