Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently updated its official rankings and oh hey, look who it is, Junior dos Santos is back in the heavyweight Top 5 after putting a Brazilian beatdown on “Black Beast” last weekend in Wichita.

If you’re too cheap for an ESPN+ subscription you can watch the highlights here.

In defeat, Lewis drops to No. 5, though I will say the most surprising update of them all in terms of this week’s movement is the specific non-movement of Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos, who captured his seventh straight win by wrecking Curtis Millender (video).

Whatever.

Here’s how the rankings work, courtesy of UFC.com:

Rankings were generated by a voting panel made up of media members. The media members were asked to vote for who they feel are the top fighters in the UFC by weight-class and pound-for-pound. A fighter is only eligible to be voted on if they are in active status in the UFC. A fighter can appear in more than one weight division at a time. The champion and interim champion are considered to be in the top positions of their respective divisions and therefore are not eligible for voting by weight-class. However, the champions can be voted on for the pound-for-pound rankings.

Take a look at what the latest rankings field looks like courtesy of UFC.com. Note: (+/- = movement in rankings, *NR = Not previously ranked).

You can expect these standings to change around this time next week, particularly in the welterweight division, as the promotion is set to uncork the UFC on ESPN+ 5: “Till vs. Masvidal” event this Sat. (March 16, 2019) inside O2 Arena in London, England (more on that fight card here).
