MMA: UFC 242- Nurmagomedov vs Poirier

Per Haljestam-USA TODAY Sports

Previously ranked at No. 14, former champion Anderson Silva has been quietly removed from the middleweight chart.

With UFC 242 finally in the books, the promotion has updated its official rankings to reflect all the wins and losses coming out of the “Khabib vs. Poirier” pay-per-view (PPV) event last weekend in Abu Dhabi, which produced fluctuations in several weight classes.

That includes the pound-for-pound and lightweight charts, where Dustin Poirier lost some important ground — as well as his interim strap — after getting submitted by “The Eagle” in the third round of their headlining affair (watch the highlights here).

Moving forward in the heavyweight rankings and ahead of Junior dos Santos was Curtis Blaydes, thanks to his second-round shellacking of Shamil Abdurakhimov (video). Joanne Calderwood also jumped ahead to the No. 3 spot by outlasting Andrea Lee.

Here’s how the rankings work, courtesy of UFC.com:

Rankings were generated by a voting panel made up of media members. The media members were asked to vote for who they feel are the top fighters in the UFC by weight-class and pound-for-pound. A fighter is only eligible to be voted on if they are in active status in the UFC. A fighter can appear in more than one weight division at a time. The champion and interim champion are considered to be in the top positions of their respective divisions and therefore are not eligible for voting by weight-class. However, the champions can be voted on for the pound-for-pound rankings.

Take a look at what the latest rankings field looks like courtesy of UFC.com. Note: (+/- = movement in rankings, T = tie, *NR = Not previously ranked).
