“Canadian featherweight fighter, Antonio Carvalho will be making his UFC debut against one of Brazil’s best prospects, Yuri Alcantara at UFC 134,” confirmed UFC president Dana White.

The UFC 134: Silva vs. Okami event is scheduled to take place on Aug. 27 at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This match brings the total number of fights on the card to ten announced by the UFC for the event.

Carvalho recently signed a multi-fight contract with the UFC and enters the fight on a three fight win streak. The Canadian took his last fight earlier this month, June 10, on the Score Fighting Series show in Ontario, earning a unanimous decision over Doug Evans at the event. The two previous wins took place with the local Warrior-1 promotion in Canada. Before that, Carvalho spent some time fighting in Japan fighting six out of seven times in the land of the rising sun, putting together a record of 3-4 in that span.

Alcantara makes his featherweight debut making the move over from the WEC after his debut there last December. ‘Marajó’ will likely come in as the heavy favorite having won eleven straight bouts, including two wins in one night to earn the inaugural Jungle Fight lightweight title. Alcantara has managed to finish twenty-two times out of his twenty-four victories, finishing ten times by (T)KO and twelve times by submission.
