Officials with the Ultimate Fighting Championship promotion updated their UFC on FOX 3 card Friday evening by adding a bantamweight bout between Canadian fighter ‘The Ninja Of Love’ Nick Denis (11-2) and ‘Brutal’ Johnny Bedford (18-9-1).
The announcement was made at UFC.com bringing the total number of bouts to a dozen for the May event.
Nick Denis put the rest of the bantamweight division on notice with a devastating 22-second KO of The Night debut in his first UFC outing, while TUF 14′s Johnny Bedford won a landslide victory in his last fight at the series finale. Now, these two have verbally agreed to clash at the UFC on FOX event May 5.
UFC on FOX 3 is expected to take place on May 5, 2012 at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Denis debuted with the UFC last month in Nashville on the UFC on FX 1 card by stopping opponent Joseph Sandoval with a series of elbows, ending the fight in just 22-seconds via knockout. t was his tenth victory by (T)KO. The win was Denis second straight, putting his record at 4-1 with the other bouts taking place under the Sengoku, Wreck MMA, and Aggression MMA banners.
Bedford also debuted in the Octagon in his last fight, stopping fellow TUF 14 cast mate Louis Gaudinot via TKO (knees to body) at the shows Finale event last December. It was ‘Brutal’s’ second win and puts his record at 7-1 in his last eight. Bedford had been scheduled to face Mitch Gagnon at the UFC on FOX 2 card but the bout was cancelled due due to Gagnon’s visa issues.
