Nick Diaz says he never sent Diego Sanchez hate mail.
Diego Sanchez recently brought up an interesting story from years back about his former opponent in Nick Diaz. According to the inaugural Ultimate Fighter winner, Diaz talked a lot of smack via email, back when beefing on twitter was yet to be a thing.
“Me and Nick Diaz hated each other,” Sanchez said. “Nick Diaz used to send me e-mails. He found my e-mail, he talked to one of the MMA journalists at the time, there wasn’t many. Gave him my e-mail and he would e-mail me hate mails.
“Bad sh-t. Talking sh-t about my mom, talking sh-t about my dad, just trying to get under my skin with everything he had. He hated me. He hated Ultimate Fighters because we got all that attention. He was in the spotlight at that time, he hated us and he hated me.”
Diaz previously admitted that he didn’t like how Sanchez got undeserved attention from The Ultimate Fighter, but he has since responded to these statements. The 37-year-old issued a brief response on his Instagram Stories, denying he ever sent hate mail “talking sh-t” about Sanchez’s family.
“I would never do this,” Diaz wrote.
Diaz and Sanchez fought back in 2005, where the latter won by unanimous decision and improved his record to 14-0 at the time.
Diaz had a pretty stellar career after that loss in his first UFC stint, but he hasn’t fought since 2015, and is winless in his last three bouts dating back to 2012. Sanchez technically won his last fight in February by disqualification, but was being handily beaten by Michel Pereira prior to an illegal knee. He has been pretty inconsistent the last several years, going 7-8 in his last fifteen bouts.
