It looks like a fight between Nick Diaz and Jorge Masvidal is very possible. Tensions between Nick and Masvidal seemed to grow after a recent sitdown interview the former did with ESPN’s Ariel Helwani.
During the interview, Nick took issue with Masvidal’s “baptizing” comments that he made about his baby brother, Nate, prior to their UFC 244 meeting earlier this month.
“You want to talk about baptizing my younger brother? That’s on you,” Diaz said in a pre-recorded interview on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show on Monday. “I never had anything disrespectful to say. But you don’t talk about baptizing my younger brother so you’re already in a f*cked position if you fight with me.
“You don’t talk about baptizing someone’s younger brother. That’s my baby brother. You don’t talk about that to nobody. You want to say that, do that? You want to walk? That’s on you.”
Now, taking to Instagram to thank Helwani for the interview, Diaz confirmed that he’s down to fight Masvidal, and urged the UFC to give fans the fight they want to see.
“Thank you @arielhelwani for letting me come on had a long week I was a little worked up @gamebredfighter @ufc give the fans that Real sh*t what they wanna see”
Masvidal responded in the comments of Diaz’s post, agreeing that he’s 100 percent down to fight the older Diaz brother.
“Would be a honor. I’m in for this #theresurrection”
Nick Diaz hasn’t fought under the UFC’s banner since January of 2015 when he suffered a unanimous decision loss to Anderson Silva. The fight was later overturned to a No Contest after both Diaz and Silva ran into issues with their post-fight drug tests.
