Nick Newell is feeling good about his Bellator contract.
Nick Newell is feeling the love over at Bellator.
The fan-favorite fighter has often been overlooked as a one-armed fighter. He appreciates being treated like a human being over at Bellator. Newell (16-2) recently singled out Bellator President Scott Coker for his hospitality.
“It felt good to be treated like a human by [Coker] and not just some novelty act that doesn’t belong,” Newell said (via MMA Fighting). “It felt really good to be acknowledged for my skills by what I believe is going to be the No. 1 mixed martial arts organization in the world.” In fact, Newell — who once competed in a losing effort on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contenders Series — plans to wrap up his professional MMA career with the organization.
“I think him and Rich [Chou] truly believe in my skills, and I’m ready to go out there and do my thing and be a part of something special in Bellator,” Newell revealed. “I don’t want to go anywhere else. This is where I want to be. This is where I want to fight until I’m done fighting. When I’m done fighting, it will be for Bellator. I’m going to finish out my career with Bellator.”
Newell made his successful promotional debut at Bellator 225, submitting Corey Browning (5-3). Browning had developed a reputation as a hype killer in Bellator after finishing prospects Kevin Ferguson Jr. and Aaron Chalmers. He has since agreed to a four-fight deal with a promotion.
