UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson calls out Conor McGregor in a festive tweet.

The UFC lightweight contenders are getting more impatient with Conor McGregor by the day.

After spending most of 2017 setting up a superfight with Floyd Mayweather Jr., a fight which McGregor lost via 10th-round TKO, fans and fighters are clamoring to see ‘The Notorious’ return to the Octagon to defend his UFC lightweight title.

McGregor stated that fighters must now ‘lobby’ for fights with him, and current interim 155-pound champ Tony Ferguson, who is riding a 10-fight win streak, started lobbying for the bout on social media earlier this week.

After wishing his fans a happy Christmas and new year, ‘El Cucuy’ pressured McGregor to defend or vacate his title.

Ferguson, 33, previously went back-and-forth with McGregor a couple of months ago on Twitter, but since then the Irishman has teased at a potential rematch with UFC featherweight champ Max Holloway.

Ferguson, a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt under renowned coach Eddie Bravo, last fought at UFC 216 where he submitted Kevin Lee with a triangle choke to win the interim title. The Californian also holds high-profile wins over the likes of Rafael dos Anjos, Edson Barboza, and Josh Thomson.

McGregor became the first simultaneous two-division champion (featherweight and lightweight) in UFC history in 2016 but hasn’t defended any of his titles. The combat sports megastar was stripped of the featherweight belt shortly after outclassing Eddie Alvarez to win the lightweight strap at UFC 205, and is currently embroiled in contract negotiations with UFC president Dana White.
