As we learned in the now-infamous Nick Diaz case from back in 2015, the slime balls at Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) will put their egos above their policies, which is why Alex Nicholson was suspended four years in the wake of last October’s positive drug test.
Sure, the penalty for first-time offenders like Nicholson maxes out at two years — and 30-percent of his fight purse — but NSAC pulled the “aggravating circumstances” card to nail him to the wall, according to MMA Junkie.
The official reason is “The Spartan” flunked for multiple banned substances (drostanolone, nandrolone, and trenbolone), but I’ve been covering these hearings for well over a decade now and four years (plus a 60-percent fine) feels more like retaliation for Nicholson’s no-call, no-show at today’s assembly.
Daniel Pineda, however, did make it to Las Vegas for his hearing but did not get the result he was hoping for. NSAC tabled his suspension until January, which means “The Pit” will lose his spot (and shot at $1 million) against Lance Palmer at the PFL Finals later this month.
What a shame it would be to lose that opportunity and later be exonerated by way of tainted supplement, or something along those lines, which has become so prevalent these days that most governing bodies have been forced to rewrite the rule books.
