Amanda Nunes will look to defend her featherweight title for the second time when she fights Megan Anderson at UFC 256.
The consensus greatest female fighter in MMA history, Amanda Nunes, will defend her featherweight title against Megan Anderson at UFC 256 in December.
ESPN first reported the news, but the UFC is yet to confirm the title fight. Nunes said after her most recent win in June that she planned to take a break from the sport, but it’s clear plans have changed as she will instead return to the octagon for the second time in 2020 against Anderson.
Nunes (20-4) defended her featherweight title for the first time this June when she dominated Felicia Spencer to win a unanimous decision at UFC 250. “The Lioness” won her 145-pound belt by knocking out Cris Cyborg in just 51-seconds in December 2018. Nunes defended her bantamweight title twice in 2019 by knocking out Holly Holm and winning a decision against Germaine De Randamie.
This will be Anderson’s (11-4) first shot at the featherweight title during her current two-year UFC stint. The Australian will enter the fight with Nunes on the back of consecutive stoppage wins against Norma Dumont Viana and Zarah Fairn Dos Santos. Anderson has gone 3-2 since signing for the UFC back in 2018.
UFC 256 takes place on December 12th and is without a venue or location to its name.
