Jones is once again demeaning interim heavyweight champion Aspinall as the Brit calls for movement at the top of the stalled division.

UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones is firing back at interim champion Tom Aspinall after the British fighter called for “Bones” to be stripped of his title.

Jones is nursing a torn pectoral muscle which is expected to keep him out until mid-2024. With his return so far away, he decided to “kill two birds” with one stone and have some bone spurs removed from his elbow as well. He posted news of the successful surgery on his Instagram stories, and now he seems to be catching up on X (formerly Twitter). He did not like what he saw from Tom Aspinall.

Aspinall will have to wait for Jones to recover, wait for Jones to fight Stipe Mioicic, and then wait for the winner to be ready to fight again. He’s been less than pleased with the prospect of spending 2024 in limbo, and has suggested alternatives: the UFC could strip Jon Jones. Or the UFC could book Aspinall vs. Miocic. Either move screws Jon, so we’re not surprised he had some words for the British heavyweight.

“Only four recognizable opponents, and already the king of England, must be nice,” Jones tweeted. “There will be legendary tales told about you and your infamous call outs.”

“He’s done all he can do you can’t blame him for being frustrated,” one fan in the comments said.

“I mean, it doesn’t really work like that,” Jones countered. “I was a champion when I was 23 years old, you can’t show up at age 30 pretending like you’ve been chasing me your whole life. I have no clue who 90% of his resume is, meanwhile, I’ve been highlighting UFC events my entire career.”

Jones’ final tweet of the night was a response to the trash talk from pro-Aspinall fans.

“It’s a wild world we live in!” he exclaimed. “People can be so quick to try to replace you, throw you away, discredit your work. That’s the best thing about them stats or just being able to see the fruits of your labor. Be an absolute savage at what you do, at whatever capacity that may be. Let the work speak for itself, be undeniable in this world ladies and gentlemen. Be absolutely undeniable.”
