Brian Ortega talks about running into Conor McGregor’s training partner Dillon Danis after the UFC 229 melee on Saturday night.

Bellator fighter and Conor McGregor’s jiu-jitsu coach Dillon Danis was one of the main characters of Saturday night’s post-fight scuffle at UFC 229. It was him whom Khabib Nurmagomedov lunged at cage side, sparking a full-scale brawl that led to arrests, ten-day suspensions, and a possible stripping of “The Eagle’s” 155-pound title.

But that whole mess apparently did not deter Danis from partying after the fight. According to featherweight contender Brian Ortega, he ran into the Marcelo Garcia black belt in a night club in Las Vegas after all the commotion was over.

“First I was like ‘Damn, what are you doing here? Especially alone,” Ortega recalled of his encounter with Danis in an interview with TMZ Sports. “And I was like ‘This guy’s a savage right now.’”

“He had a hood on, trying to be low-key, but he just came up to me, he was respectful and was like ‘hey man, you’re holding down for the jiu-jitsu community, you’re doing your thing. I admire you, I appreciate it.”

According to Ortega, Danis was “cool about the situation”, but later revealed that he may have been hurt from the incident.

“He wouldn’t really tell me much. He was like ‘Yeah, man, sh-t got crazy. His guys started throwing, I started throwing.’ One of his eyes was swollen. And he was just telling me like ‘Yeah, man, they gave me a concussion.’”

“And after that, he was gonna walk about by himself, and I told my boy, I said ‘hey, man, make sure this guy gets out of here alright. Because there seems to be some Russians in that club, so I was like ‘make sure this guy gets out safely.”

Danis’ McGregor-esque bravado has gotten him in a lot of hot water as of late. He recently got into a Twitter feud with Rafael dos Anjos, whom he referred to as a “no heart rat”, which stemmed from some harsh criticisms hurled at him by the former UFC lightweight champion.
