Nurmagomedov has become a star amongst his fellow top athletes leading up to his UFC 223 fight.
Khabib Nurmagomedov continues to rack up more and more celebrity endorsements.
While he may be nowhere near the mainstream fame that Conor McGregor has acheived, it’s clear that Nurmagomedov’s dominance in the cage has been noticed by other top shelf athletes around the world. A few weeks ago it was Cristiano Ronaldo who was giddy to meet Khabib and present him with an honorary Real Madrid jersey. Now it’s top NHL player and fellow Russian Alexander Ovechkin hobnobbing with the Dagestani fighter.
Ovechkin was in Khabib’s neck of the woods with his Washington Capitals playing the San Jose Sharks. Afterwards, he presented his comrade a signed team jersey.
”It was very nice to shake hands with the champion!” Ovechkin wrote on Instagram in Russian. “You are the best!!!”
I guess we know who Alexander thinks is going to win the lightweight title at UFC 223 on April 7th.
