Ovince Saint Preux explains Mauricio Rua rematch despite previously crushing ‘Shogun’ in 2014

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight contender, Ovince Saint Preux, could have very easily turned down a rematch against Mauricio Rua and finished his career with a knockout win over “Shogun,” a nice feather in his mixed martial arts (MMA) cap, no doubt.

But he’s not a coward who clings to the accolades of yesteryear.

Instead, “OSP” is ready to prove he’s not a one-hit wonder and simply was — and is — the better fighter, which is why he’s not afraid to let Rua try to get one back later this month in “The Land of the Rising Sun.”

Besides, it’s a chance to win over some fans in Japan.

“It’s a job, man,” Saint Preux told MMAjunkie Radio. “A lot of times during a job, you have to do certain things you don’t want to. Shoot, if I would have lost like that, I probably would want to get back at the guy who did it to me too, so we definitely accepted it.”

Saint Preux and Rua will headline the upcoming UFC Fight Night 117 combat sports extravaganza on FOX Sports 1, which takes place inside Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, on Fri., Sept. 22, 2017.
