UFC prospect Paige VanZant is currently competing on Dancing with the Stars that airs on ABC and is eyeing a return to the Octagon after the show wraps.
The UFC hyped VanZant to be the next big star, but she fell out of the sky at the UFC Fight Night 80 event. She met Rose Namajunas in a women’s strawweight bout as the main event of the event. Namajunas, who was the underdog in this fight, got the upset win with a fifth round rear-naked choke.
While VanZant hoped that she would fight at UC 200, which is being hyped as the biggest UFC event of 2016 and takes place from Las Vegas, Nevada in July, VanZant will not be on that card.
According to her manager Mike Roberts, the UFC star will be missing that card and hopes to return in August.
“After thinking about it, the show is taking up a lot of her time,” Roberts told MMA Fighting. “She wants to have time to improve and get better, so we decided to postpone her return to about late-August.”
VanZant (6-2) is currently on a one-fight losing streak.
VanZant ranks number seven in the UFC rankings and with her comeback coming soon, there are multiple fights that the UFC could book her in. #6 Jessica Penne, #5 Valerie Letourneau or they could have her fight #8, Maryna Moroz. Either way, the UFC will be looking forward to having “PVZ” back inside the world famous Octagon.
