Before the two fighters lost, there was talk of a possible fight between Paige VanZant and Ronda Rousey. At the time, the two girls were the hottest stars in the UFC as you had a young prospect winning big fights in VanZant and Rousey dominating the women’s bantamweight division. VanZant lost to Rose Namajunas at UFC Fight Night 80, and Rousey lost to Holly Holm at UFC 193 and those talks have died down until now.
VanZant was in LA with a friend and TMZ caught up with her and asked her about moving from 115lb to 135lb to fight Rousey.
“It’s not even a possibility,” PVZ told TMZ.
VanZant (6-2) is currently on a one-fight losing streak. In her last six bouts, she lost to Erica Torres in January of 2013 by unanimous decision but rebounded with a win over Courtney Himes in April of 2013 by first round rear-naked-choke. In her next/latest bout, she beat Kailin Curran by third round TKO in November of 2014 at UFC Fight Night: Edgar vs. Swanson. She beat Felice Herrig at UFC on Fox 15 by decision. She beat Alex Chambers by third-round armbar at UFC 191. She lost to Rose Namajunas by fifth round submission at UFC Fight Night 80.
Rousey (12-1) is currently on a one-fight losing streak. She is 5-1 in her last six. She beat Miesha Tate at UFC 168 by third-round armbar and then knocked out Sara McMann at UFC 170 by first-round KO. She knocked out Alexis Davis at UFC 185 in just 16 seconds then finished Cat Zingano at UFC 184 in just 14 seconds by armbar. She finished Bethe Correia in just thirty-four seconds at UFC 190 by TKO. She lost to Holly Holm at UFC 193 by second round knockout.
VanZant is currently competing on Dancing with the Stars that airs on ABC and is eyeing a return to the Octagon after the show wraps. On the other hand, Rousey is scheduled to fight Miesha Tate later this year. Possibly in November.
