Hall of Famer B.J. Penn says he isn’t looking for a fight, but if a card went down in Hawaii, he’d make a UFC return.

Former two-division champion and UFC Hall of Fame member B.J. Penn is a proud Hawaiian, and has talked for years about the UFC coming to the islands. He might be 39 years old now and not really looking for another bout in the Octagon, but he believes he wouldn’t be able to resist the urge to take one more more fight if it took place in his homeland.

While speaking to Honolulu TV station KHON, he made it clear that he could still step in there if UFC Hawaii actually came to fruition:

“I wouldn’t go around talking to the UFC and asking them to get me a fight somewhere, but if something happened and the UFC came to Hawaii. I’m still young enough to do it. I don’t see how I can turn that particular fight down.”

Penn knows that an event there would be big too:

“That would be unbelievable. You see all kinds of rumors and stuff and the last time I was in Vegas, I saw the MMA commission from Hawaii and someone representing Aloha Stadium up there, so it’s interesting. I would love to see something happen. It would mean everything. Like I said though, I’m not even fighting so maybe I just sit back and watch.”

Penn (16-12-2) has fought sporadically over the last six years, everywhere from welterweight to featherweight. He is currently on a five-fight losing streak.
