Two exciting UFC flyweight contenders are likely to clash later this year as Sergio Pettis vs. Kai Kara-France is in the works for UFC 245 on Dec. 14 from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, per a recent report by ESPN’s Ariel Helwani.

Pettis, 26, is coming off an impressive decision win over veteran fighter Tyson Nam back at UFC Mexico City, which ended a two-fight losing skid for “Phenom.” While Pettis has yet to capitalize on big opportunities inside of the Octagon, which include matchups with the likes of Henry Cejudo and Jussier Formiga, the veteran fighter does hold a split-decision win over former title challenger Joseph Benavidez. Given the short list of notable fighters on the UFC’s 125-pound roster, another win or two for Pettis could land him close to his first ever UFC title shot.

Kara-France, 26, is coming off a unanimous decision win over rising prospect Mark De La Rosa back at UFC Shenzhen this past August, which improved the French fighter’s Octagon record to an impressive 3-0. Kara-France, better known as “Don’t Blink,” has now won 13 out of his last 14 professional bouts dating back to 2015. He remains one of the most talented young prospects in the UFC’s flyweight division and a win over Pettis could launch Kara-France into the top 5.

UFC 245 is expected to be headlined by a highly-anticipated welterweight clash between current champion Kamaru Usman and top contender Colby Covington. The ESPN+ PPV card will also feature a Max Holloway vs. Alexander Volkanovski featherweight title fight and a women’s bantamweight rematch between champion Amanda Nunes and contender Germaine de Randamie.
