Floyd Mayweather bet against his former opponent Conor McGregor
Floyd Mayweather didn’t fight, but he still made good money on Saturday night. The undefeated boxing legend bet against his former foe in Conor McGregor, and he cashed in after Dustin Poirier picked up a TKO win at UFC 264.
Mayweather took to social media to post about his sizable bet.
“@dustinpoirier, thanks for getting me paid!” Mayweather wrote on Instagram.
His post shows a betting slip that had him putting $50,000 on Poirier. Aptly named “Money,” Mayweather will be going home with $85,714.30 now (winning $35,714.30) from his bet at UFC 264.
Poirier has since responded:
I got you champ!

Mayweather, 44, TKO’d McGregor in the 10th round of their 2017 boxing match. Although he went on to compete in lucrative exhibitions, the cross-over bout marked Mayweather’s final professional bout to make him reach 50-0 in his hall-of-fame career. Mayweather reportedly made around $285 million for that bout.
With the loss at UFC 264, McGregor has now lost three of his last four bouts, all via stoppage. His only win in almost half a decade is a TKO over Donald Cerrone in 2020.
Poirier on the other hand, is on an impressive streak, losing just one of his last ten bouts dating back to 2017.
