Longtime UFC women’s flyweight contender Jessica Eye suffered her third straight defeat at the UFC 264 pay-per-view (PPV) event last Sat. night (July 10, 2021) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, falling to fellow 135-pound bruiser Jennifer Maia.

In addition to the loss, “Evil” also took home a giant axe wound directly in her forehead, which took several stitches to close.

“Like Wolverine I’m healing nicely,” the former bantamweight wrote on social media.

The official decision was not well received by “Evil” fans and Eye told her Instagram followers that she believes the judges got it wrong. Certainly wouldn’t be the first time and media scores were split right down the middle.

“I felt (the cut) was due to a head butt and I hoped my head wasn’t cut like hers,” Maia said during the post-fight press conference (transcribed by MMA Junkie). “But I felt it bugged her and I made the best out of it and grew in the fight. From what my corners told me, I felt I was winning the fight. But I couldn’t let her start to like the fight. I had to keep imposing my will to get the three rounds. But I felt I was winning each round.”
