Jake Paul is just one week out from his boxing match against former UFC fighter and current bareknuckle boxer, Mike Perry, and “Problem Child” is pulling out all the stops.
Paul was originally scheduled to fight the legendary Mike Tyson this month, but “Iron Mike” needed to withdraw due to health issues. That match has been re-booked for this November. Paul, however, still wanted to compete this month so he inked a contract to meet “Platinum” next weekend on July 20 from inside Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.
Outside of an awkward face-to-face interview (see it HERE), there hasn’t been much promotion for the upcoming Paul vs. Perry boxing match. Fight fans were obviously hoping to see Tyson take on Paul, but Perry is a super durable fighter who has been on a tear lately under the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) banner. The fight should be a good one.
For Paul, it’s another chance to prove he’s leveling up as a boxer. While Perry isn’t some world-class striker with untouchable accolades he is a step-up in competition from some of the other guys Paul has defeated and could have faced. In effort to create some buzz around his fight next weekend and put some added pressure on Perry, Paul decided to prank his foe earlier this week with the ultimate troll job.
Paul pretended to be a boxing journalist and called Perry on the phone. “Platinum” answered a few questions without knowing who it really was, but once Paul asked him a question about getting knocked out things took a hilarious turn. Check it out below:
